Yango Israel denies media reports on business sale

TEL AVIV, Aug 11 (PRIME) -- Israeli company Yango Israel, working under the framework of international service Yandex Taxi, has denied recent reports about negotiations on sale of the local business, Yango Israel PR service head Dor Blech told PRIME on Friday.

“From the very first day, Yango Israel has been and remains an Israeli legal entity. We are holding no talks with any of the persons mentioned by media. These publications are false,” Blech said.

Israeli business daily Calcalist reported earlier that Internet company Yandex was holding talks on the sale of Yango Israel with Israeli businessman Barak Abramov because of Russia’s new law on taxi that is to come in force on September 1.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law at the end of December 2022 that regulates work of taxis. The document grants authorized bodies automated remote access to the information systems and databases exploited to receive, store, process, and transfer orders for taxi carriage.
